BONEX: Digital Platform for Sustainable Nexus in the Mediterranean
With a clean and carefully structured institutional design, BONEX's new website digitally embodies the project's ambition: to build a bridge between sectors traditionally treated in isolation — water, energy, food and ecosystems. The platform consolidates scientific knowledge, practical methodologies and interactive tools, providing a solid basis for the integrated governance of natural resources in the Mediterranean region, accessible to researchers, policy makers, local stakeholders and the community at large.
The Context: A Systemic Approach to Natural Resources
BONEX has emerged in response to the growing challenges associated with pressure on natural resources resulting from intensified food production, increased energy demand, ecosystem degradation and the effects of climate change.
The WEFe Nexus concept
The strong interdependence between water, energy, food and ecosystems — known as the WEF Nexus — requires an integrated approach capable of assessing impacts, trade-offs and synergies between sectors.
In this context, BONEX proposes the development of a transdisciplinary framework, the WEFe Bridging Framework (WEFeF), which guides the creation of plans adapted to different territories and socio-economic realities in the Mediterranean region.
The Fullscreen Digital Solution
Fullscreen was responsible for designing and developing BONEX's digital platform, focusing on clarity of information, modularity, and accessibility to diverse audiences.
Logical and modular architecture
The digital handbook is structured into clearly defined phases — initiation, diagnosis, identification of interventions, evaluation, and implementation — allowing for sequential or targeted consultation, depending on the user's profile and objectives.
Clear and accessible technical communication
The hierarchy of content, typography and intuitive navigation were designed to serve both technical audiences (research, public policy, planning) and more general audiences (NGOs, local communities and interested citizens).
Management and continuous updating of content
The platform is ready to integrate new reports, fact sheets, demonstration project results, conclusions, and dissemination materials, ensuring that the project's progress is reflected in real time on the website.
International visibility and transnational collaboration
Given BONEX's international character, covering several countries in the Mediterranean region, the website was designed to ensure global accessibility and support collaboration between multiple stakeholders.
Result: A Digital Hub for Sustainable Transformation
The BONEX website is a true hub of knowledge and tools, bringing together:
-
Scientific and methodological documentation
-
O WEFe Bridging Framework (WEFeF)
-
Decision support tools and trade-off analysis
-
Customised regional plans (Nexus Bridging Plans)
-
Results of demonstration projects
-
Space for community and stakeholder engagement
This approach transforms the website into an active tool for implementing sustainable solutions, going beyond simple institutional promotion.
With Fullscreen's digital intervention, BONEX now has a professional, organised and effective online presence — essential for supporting complex challenges of environmental sustainability, integrated resource management and governance in the Mediterranean.
